Do the people of Knutsford have either a drink problem or a significant penchant for alcohol, I wonder.
I ask this after two reports recently.
The first was the Knutsford Community First Responders Trust is one of two charities being supported this year by supermarket Booths and to raise money for the group the café at the supermarket hosted a gin tasting evening.
Gin and charity, what a combination.
The second is probably even stranger.
St John’s Church is holding a beer tasting evening on Saturday, featuring beers from Sutton Weaver-based Chapter Brewing and ‘snacks to match’.
As well as the beer, there will be a ‘short Christian address’ from the Rev George Crowder of St John’s, Over.”
The beers featured will be Parabola Pale, a dry hopped pale ale; Dead Man’s Fist, a smoked porter with black pepper; Handyman Sour, a beetroot and hibiscus sour (yes, really); Tired Eyes, a honey and camomile wheat beer, and Forgotten Decibels, an abbey-style ale.
That’s what I like – a little craft ale variety with my religion.
Having said that, some might say I’ve got that a little mixed up and craft ale IS my religion.
