SUPER slimmers from Knutsford are celebrating their success by supporting a Clothes Throw campaign.

Women from the St John’s Church Monday night and Knutsford Sports Club Tuesday morning groups are celebrating losing 2,069 pounds between them by donating their now too-big clothes to Cancer Research UK.

The Big Slimming World Clothes Throw is taking place in all 18,000 Slimming World groups across the UK and Ireland, and last year the campaign raised £3.3 million.

All Slimming World groups are being invited to donate their clothes, shoes, bags and accessories they no longer need since losing weight to local shops via a bag collection at their Slimming World groups.

As well as fundraising, Slimming World also aims to raise awareness of the links between obesity and cancer.

Obesity is the biggest cause of cancer after smoking, but only 15 per cent of people are aware of the link.

Wendy Scott, who lives in Knutsford, has lost 74.5 pounds since joining the Monday night St John’s group in June last year.

She said: “I’ve gone from a size 22-24 to a size 12-14 and I’ve got four bags to donate.

“Losing weight has done wonders for my confidence, and knowing I’ve reduced my chances of getting a range of health issues including cancer feels great.

“The best thing is I don’t feel like I’ve had to overhaul my life to lose weight. At Slimming World I don’t have to give anything up and can still enjoy my favourite meals with my family - we just prepare them differently.

“I have started the gym, walk to work every day and have even started pole dancing, which is extremely difficult.

“I’m so excited to bag up my old clothes and see how much we can raise for Cancer Research UK.

“At my heaviest shopping for clothes was always something I dreaded – now I jump at the chance to try on new things and show off my new body.

“There’s no going back to the old me, so I definitely won’t need my size 24s again.”
