WILMSLOW mum Valerie is looking forward to a 'spectacular' fundraising evening tomorrow after being overwhelmed by the support for the event.

TV presenter Melissa Porter is to host the first fundraising event being staged by a new group supporting parents of teenagers.

The Courthouse in Knutsford is the venue for an evening of fashion and fizz in aid of the fledgling Wilmslow Teenage Support Group for Parents.

Valerie set up the group to offer help on a range of issues affecting families, and the fundraising evening is aimed at helping fund a mental health and wellbeing campaign.

Valerie hopes to raise £4,000 to fund parent workshops, awareness events, a website, wellbeing directory, speakers, promotional material, therapists support and coaching for families.

"I am overwhelmed to have sold out tickets for the event," said Valerie.

"The publicity throughout the entire process of selling tickets has really highlighted our cause, and so many people and professionals have wanted to offer prizes or help at the event.

"I hope it will be a spectacular evening, with the aim to increase awareness throughout our community of the importance of mental health in teenagers and families.

"It’s just great to see a community come together, and the ticket sales have exceeded my expectations.

"I would like to thank Melissa Porter, Carol-Ann Reid, Sarah Musique Hargreaves, Jo Moore, Penelope Marshall Silver, Karla Zapoloski, Mozhgan Taheri, Marita Moore and everyone involved in this amazing and worthy cause."

The fundraiser runs from 6.30pm to late, with Karla Zapolski, the founder of The Fashion Dollz, showcasing the season’s designs.

There will be welcome fizz, a three-course meal, entertainment and goody bags.

The guest speakers will be Carol-Ann Reid and Marita Moore, and the evening is being sponsored by Mozhgan Taheri from Sci-U Body and Facial Aesthetic Clinic.
