SUNRISE of Mobberley celebrated National Care Home Open Day by opening its doors to visitors and hosting a special picnic and musical.

To celebrate the special day the Sunrise community hosted an open house, with a celebratory Teddy Bear’s Picnic and a Goldilocks and the Three Bears musical in the afternoon.

The musical was performed by Jessica Buxton and The Bookworm Players, a children's theatre company that seeks to inspire, educate and entertain through imaginative performances.

Visitors brought along their favourite bear and joined in with the interactive classic tale which was held outside in the grounds, bringing the play to life for the children.

Afterwards guests enjoyed ‘high tea’ with traditional sandwiches, fairy cakes, short bread and a glass of champagne.

The day was made extra special by the 103rd birthday of resident Connie Keeley, who shares her birthday with The Queen.

Connie enjoyed a birthday cake and picked out the winners of the Teddy Bear competition.

The National Care Home Open Day – now in its sixth year – encourages care homes to open their doors to celebrate a different theme each year, with a few key values at its heart: friendship, making connections and celebrating older and vulnerable people.

Dawn Williams, Director of Community Relations at Sunrise of Mobberley, said: “Care Home Open Day has always been a great opportunity to welcome familiar faces and meet new people from the local area. It also gives our guests the chance to see what our community is like.

“We are so pleased that our event was a huge success and everyone had a wonderful time.”
