TV PRESENTER Melissa Porter is to host the first fundraising event being staged by a new group supporting parents of teenagers.

The Courthouse in Knutsford is the venue next month for an evening of fashion and fizz in aid of the Wilmslow Teenage Support Group for Parents.

Wilmslow mum Valerie Kilby set up the group to offer help on a range of issues affecting families, and the fundraising evening is aimed at helping fund a mental health and wellbeing campaign.

The evening is being organised by Valerie, Penelope Marshall Silver, Sarah Musique Hargreaves, Carol-Ann Reid, Marita Moore and Joanna Scott-Aspray, and sponsored by Mozhgan Taheri from Sci-U Body and Facial Aesthetic Clinic.

“Under the brand of Wilmslow Together Ltd we are hosting our first fundraising event at The Courthouse,” said Valerie.

“It’s for a fantastic cause - helping parents and children in relation to mental health and wellbeing.

“We hope to raise £4,000 to fund parent workshops, awareness events, a website, wellbeing directory, speakers, promotional material, therapists support and coaching for families.”

The fundraiser takes place on Saturday, May 12, from 6.30pm to late, with Karla Zapolski, the founder of The Fashion Dollz, showcasing the season’s designs.

There will be welcome fizz, a three-course meal, entertainment and goody bags.

Melissa said: “I was delighted to be asked by Valerie to host her exciting and valuable event as I am passionate about people living out their dreams, particularly our rising star teenagers.

“Through my counselling and coaching training, mentors and life experiences I have developed some incredible tools which I am now able to share.”

The guest speakers will be Carol-Ann Reid and Marita Moore, who will share their stories.

Marita will talk about techniques to be positive as well as dealing with anxiety, and Carol-Ann will discuss how to improve the mental health and wellbeing of adults and children.

Carol-Ann said: “I will be talking about my personal journey through mindset transformation.

“From overcoming anxiety, loss of loved ones and direction in life to co-creating a company that empowers children and adults to overcome negative self-talk, anxiety and create a new positive way of thinking.”

Tickets for the evening are available by emailing sales17@hotmail.co.uk, calling Valerie on 07772 446368 or visiting cheshiresocialites.co.uk

The Wilmslow Together website - wilmslowtogether.org.uk – is due to go live on April 28.

It will include workshops for parents, monthly meeting details and dates, and a wellbeing directory for professionals and charities.

Valerie added: “We would be delighted for those who can offer support to join our wellbeing directory for our community network. Please get in touch to make a difference to local families.”
