PEOPLE with dementia are sure of a warm welcome at The George and Dragon pub in Holmes Chapel.

As part of the Middlewich Road pub’s support for the Holmes Chapel Partnership’s aim to make the village dementia-friendly, most members of the pub team have become Friends of Dementia.

If you would like a Dementia Friends Champion to speak to your business contact Dorothy Davidson on 01477 537679 or email dedavidson1@aol.com

“We had the pleasure of welcoming Dorothy in to the pub to deliver a training session for our colleagues,” said George and Dragon manager Ben Ford.

“We're not the first organisation to support the Dementia Friends movement, but we're hoping that others will follow suit.

“If anyone would like any more information our team would love to hear your questions and share what we've learned.”

Dorothy started the Memory Café at Holmes Chapel Methodist Church, which runs on the first, third and fifth Wednesday of the month from 10am to midday.

The café is aimed at Holmes Chapel residents with dementia or Alzheimer’s-related conditions, and their carers and partners.

The café is run by volunteers, mostly from the church.

A coffee morning is being held at Holmes Chapel Methodist Church on May 26 from 10am to midday in aid of the Alzheimer’s Society.

The fundraiser is being organised as part of Dementia Action Week.
