KNUTSFORD groups wishing to take advantage of free dementia sessions are invited to contact Dementia Friends Champion Amie Blott.

Amie is a Home Care Co-ordinator at elderly care provider Carefound Home Care, which will be running free Dementia Friends Information Sessions in the Knutsford area.

Alzheimer’s Society’s Dementia Friends programme is the biggest initiative to change people’s perceptions of dementia.

It aims to transform the way the nation thinks, talks and acts about the condition.

There are 850,000 people living with dementia in England, of who more than 5,700 live in Cheshire East.

Dementia Friends is about learning more about dementia and the small ways you can help.

From telling friends about the Dementia Friends programme to visiting someone you know living with dementia, every action counts.

Having volunteered to be a Dementia Friends Champion, Amie hopes to deliver one-hour Dementia Friends Sessions to people across the Knutsford area.

She said: "I signed up to be a Dementia Friends Champion following my own personal experiences, and because at Carefound Home Care we specialise in supporting people with dementia to remain in their own homes.

“It’s easy to get involved. I attended a training course, receive ongoing support and I’m now proud to be part of a growing network of people creating dementia friendly communities together."

Anyone wanting to attend a Dementia Friends Session should contact Amie at Carefound Home Care on 01625 326470 or at enquiries@carefound.co.uk. You can also visit dementiafriends.org.uk to find out more.
