FOUR sixth form students at Knutsford Academy are celebrating receiving offers from The University of Oxford and the University of Cambridge.

The offers came on the back of a detailed application process, which included interviews and an entrance exam.

Year 13 student Rowan Perry, who received an offer to study English at Cambridge said: “I am so excited to have received an offer to study at Cambridge.

“The application process was a very challenging but rewarding experience. The sixth form staff supported me individually throughout the whole process which helped me immensely.”

Josie Brookes was offered a place at Cambridge to study veterinary science, Alex Lunnon a place at Oxford to study history and Iona McGarvey to study English at Oxford.

The success with the offers follows the Academy recently launching Target One Cheshire, where it was selected by The University of Oxford as a lead school for Cheshire to promote applications from students in state education to Oxbridge and other leading universities.

Head of sixth form Sarah Kirkham said: “We are absolutely delighted for Rowan, Alex, Iona and Josie, they have worked very hard and continue to do so as their A-Level exams get closer.

“This success at the school doesn’t end with Oxbridge - we are also equally pleased that so many of our sixth form students have also received offers from leading Russell Group universities.

“A key aim of our sixth form is to ensure we help and support our students not only with their studies but to fulfil their future aspirations.”
