KNUTSFORD Jog organisers have called off today’s (Sunday) planned event as winter returns.

The annual Knutsford Jog around The Moor is staged by The Rotary Club of Knutsford, and raises money for a charity and other good causes supported by the club.

Bill Ogley from the organising team said yesterday (Saturday): “We have taken the decision to cancel tomorrow's Jog, and will hopefully rearrange it later in the year.

“The overnight weather forecast is for an amber warning for snow and ice. The forecast temperature tomorrow is zero degrees.

“We have taken the view that this is not suitable weather to encourage children to turn up, stand around waiting for the start and then run for some time around the park.

"I know you will all be as sad as I am that we cannot go ahead, but I hope you will support our decision."

About 200 runners were due to take part, and because the organisers are hoping to arrange another date for the event they are asking runners to keep their Jog numbers.
