THE M6 will be subject to full closures tonight, Saturday, and over the course of the next week due to ongoing roadworks.

Work to complete the smart motorway upgrade between junctions 19 and Knutsford and 16 at Crewe means overnight closures will be in place.

Tomorrow, Saturday, from 10pm through to 6am on Sunday morning, the northbound stretch between junctions 17 for Sandbach and 18 for Middlewich and Holmes Chapel will close.

More closures will follow on Monday, Thursday, Friday and next Saturday, with full details below.

Further to the smart motorway work, which will convert the hard shoulder to an extra lane and introduce new variable speed limits, overnight closures will also take place due to plans for improvements to junction 19 at Knutsford.

Occasional work, including ground investigations, will take place as part of plans for a major improvement of the roundabout and junction. This requires occasional overnight lane and slip road closures.
