TO celebrate International Women’s Day a second reunion of Strong Women is being held at Tatton Park tomorrow, Friday.

The ‘Strong Women’ project develops self-belief, self-confidence, personal resilience and an appetite for personal growth.

The project is considered a first step and gentle introduction to education, training, informal learning and volunteering opportunities.

Workshops are held one morning every week for six weeks.

The topics include self-awareness, connecting with others, managing life’s challenges, building resilience and setting goals for the future.

The project first started in Knutsford in 2011 in response to a need identified by Great Places Housing Group.

The project in Knutsford is funded by Cheshire East Lifelong Learning, has been delivered in Blackpool, Preston, Morecambe, Wilmslow and Macclesfield, and was devised and is delivered by Karen Ames and Helen Tyler.

Karen Ames is the managing director and founder of Open Doors2 Ltd, a community development company.

The company’s aim is to support individuals and communities to achieve their potential and is based in Sale.

Open Doors2 has a programme ‘Our World’ which covers ‘My World’ project in primary schools, ‘Strong Women’, ‘Stronger Women’, ‘Dedicated Dads’ and an inter-generational project ‘Sharing Together’ within communities.

Helen Tyler is an experienced occupational therapist having worked within the field of mental wellbeing for more than 20 years.

Helen runs her own business 'Occupositive' in Yorkshire, where she offers individual therapy, as well as facilitating the Strong Women and Stronger Women workshops.
