RESIDENTS and businesses are being invited to organise coffee mornings and sponsored walks to help raise vital funds for a hospice celebrating a milestone anniversary.

East Cheshire Hospice is 30 years old this year, and it costs £7,500 a day to keep its services running, with only 17 per cent of its funding coming from the Government.

The hospice’s Knutsford Support Group raises thousands of pounds every year for the hospice, £5,853 in 2017, and is inviting the Knutsford community to boost that fundraising in this special anniversary year.

“The Knutsford group is a thriving group of volunteers, with many supporters in the town,” said Christine Masson, the group’s fundraising co-ordinator.

“This year is the 30th anniversary of the founding on the hospice, and we are asking the community if they would like to help us celebrate this.

“We invite individuals and businesses to help us raise a significant sum this year by organising their own activity – a coffee morning, lunch, sponsored walk, open garden – whatever your interests, with the proceeds going to the hospice.

“We can help with publicity, and if you have skills or interests that could exploit new directions why not join our group and help us shape the future?”
