A STUDENT from Knutsford is gearing up to represent the UK in an international geography competition.

The Grange student Bree Livesey has been selected as one of only four geography students from the country to attend the International Geography Olympiad (iGeo) in Quebec City, Canada.

The iGeo is an annual competition for the best 16 to 19-year-old geography students from all over the world.

"It is a fantastic opportunity and I am very much looking forward to the challenge and meeting other geography students from around the world," she said.

"I'm currently turning my attention to the fundraising I need to do in order to attend and the preparation alongside other Team UK members in advance of the event."

Bree, who is in the lower sixth form at the Northwich school, was chosen to represent the UK after competing in the national Olympiad last December.

Thousands of students across the world take part in each country's national Olympiad, before judges choose four from each to compete at the iGeo in July.
