MUSIC fans enjoyed a wonderful night of fundraising as some of the most exciting young voices in the country performed a charity concert over Christmas.

More than 150 people packed into St John’s Church to hear Knutsford alumni Lenny Turner, Eleanor Woods and Jake Phillips sing, joined by five students from London’s prestigious Royal Academy of Music.

The idea for the concert, now in its third year, came from Jake and Lenny while studying at Knutsford Academy.

The audience were treated to nearly two hours of music including songs from Vaughan Williams, Schubert and Tchaikovsky.

The concert was held in aid of the Cystic Fibrosis Trust, and the singers have sent a cheque of more than £1,000 to the charity. During the interval, Peter Murray of Pulse of Perfumery spoke about the disease.

Dressed in his famous yellow suit, Peter harked back to the summer when he turned the town yellow in aid of Cystic Fibrosis.

After the interval the singers performed scenes from some famous operas including work by Mozart and Rossini.

Eleanor Woods entranced the audience with her rendition of Walking in the Air, and four male voices returned for an encore.

Lenny said: “This concert is only possible with the support of the people of Knutsford and they never let us down.”
