PUB in the Park will be coming to Knutsford in September after a licence was granted by Cheshire East Council.

The three-day festival of food and drink, fronted by celebrity chef Tom Kerridge, debuted in Marlow in Buckinghamshire this May, and is now rolling out to The Heath and two other new locations.

A gourmet event expected to take place in timed, ticketed ‘sessions’ replicating afternoon and evening restaurant services and featuring live entertainment, Pub in the Park could bring some 15,000 visitors to Knutsford.

The licence was granted for organisers Brand Events, paving the way for the event to take place on The Heath from Friday, September 7 to Sunday, September 9.

Knutsford will be the last of four 2017 events, following Marlow from May 17 to 20, Bath from June 8 to 10, and Tunbridge Wells from July 6 to 8.

Tom Kerridge said: “I am delighted to be able to share the magic of Pub in the Park with the beautiful British places of Bath, Tunbridge Wells and Knutsford.

“Expect great food, brilliant music and an ace day out.”

The licensing application for the Knutsford event drew a host of responses, with residents raising concerns over noise and the restriction of common land.

This year’s inaugural Marlow event saw 18,000 tickets sold within 24 hours.

The event description says: “Tom and his fellow chef mates will be visiting four English towns across the country.

“At each venue, he’ll be bringing his Michelin-starred pubs, The Hand & Flowers and The Coach, plus a selection of other top UK pubs and restaurants to serve their most popular dishes.

“Every event will celebrate the very best food the country has to offer, combined with great live music, chef demonstrations, top quality shopping and other festival fun.

“On top of the national chef and music names, each event will celebrate the local community in the form of brilliant local artisans, pubs, local foodie heroes and musicians.”

Organisers hope that the event will come to town annually.

It is thought that parking will be provided at nearby Tatton Estate properties.
