SHARSTON House nursing home will be open over the festive period as part of a national ‘Beat Loneliness’ initiative.
The home, in Manor Park South, will be open to the public on Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day.
It is part of the Kingsley Healthcare group, whose homes in Partington, Timplerley and Sandiway will also be open.
The homes’ operations director Ian Smallwood said: “The festive period can be a very lonely time for people if they are unable to share it with their family. That is especially the case for older people if they have lost their partners and are on their own.
“We did not have a large uptake last year but the people who came along really appreciated it.”
On all three days, people are welcome to visit the home for lunch and share the company of residents and staff during the afternoon.
He said: “To ensure everything is planned properly, we unfortunately won’t be able to accommodate people turning up unannounced.
“People should call the homes in advance and reserve a place. Of course, numbers will be strictly limited.”
