VISITORS to Knutsford Library on Monday, December 4, will get the opportunity to learn about the town’s free Talking Newspaper.

A dedicated team of volunteers record a new edition every week, and are holding a coffee morning among the bookshelves between 10am and 11.30am. All are welcome.

Chief editor Jim Blacklock said: “Most people mistakenly assume you need to be registered as blind or partially sighted in order to receive the Talking Newspaper.

“There must be dozens of local residents who, due to impaired vision, find it very difficult to read a print edition of the Knutsford Guardian but don’t realise the Talking Newspaper is freely available to them. We provide the simple to use equipment, and a new edition drops through your letterbox each week.”

Call secretary Lorelly Wilson MBE on 01565 653279 for more.

Throughout December, library staff can demonstrate how to use the playback machine provided to Talking Newspaper listeners.
