KNUTSFORD Town Council will resubmit its objection to the Boundary Commission’s plans to link the town with Altrincham in redrawn Parliamentary constituencies.
The proposals - now under a third consultation - would see Tatton abolished and ‘Altrincham and Knutsford’ formed as one of 600 constituencies, down from 650.
However, Cllr Stewart Gardiner said changes might not come to fruition.
“Representation will probably be academic,” he said. “The Government does not hold a majority and it would require votes of the DUP to support changes. The DUP are dead against what is proposed.
"That said I don’t think there is any harm in reiterating our earlier comments.”
Cllr Simon Hutchence said: “We have little in common with Altrincham. Their centre of gravity is Manchester and ours isn’t. My fear is we will be forgotten about and left behind.”
