PLANNING chiefs have unanimously agreed to give the green light to a Road One factory which is expected to create 310 jobs.

Tiger Trailers has been given permission to expand its current premises with a 22,503sq m site in Winsford Industrial Estate.

Cheshire West and Chester Council officers had recommended the proposal was approved ahead of a planning meeting on Tuesday, November 7, when the decision was made.

Cllr Tom Blackmore, CWAC member for Winsford Over and Verdin, told the committee: "This is a factory that was founded about three years ago.

"It has expanded so big now that it needs a bigger place.

"It's going to mean more employment, and it's going to be great for Winsford, so I welcome it."

Cllr Don Beckett, CWAC member for Winsford Over and Verdin, added: "We are right in supporting this type of industry.

"We have Road One and it's a terrific boost to the economy of Cheshire West and Chester.

"We believe we can't put any more in [the industrial estate] but we can extend what is there already. I approve of it."

Tiger Trailers, which employs 190 people at its current site, claims the expansion would secure at least £15 million for the local economy and help provide further apprenticeship opportunities.

The firm, which makes trailer chassis, intends to develop the new site in two phases, with the building set to feature a production area, offices and a showroom.

In its planning application, the company said the new facility would be 'the most advanced trailer and body production facility in the UK'.
