A LOWER Peover woman fast becoming a local celebrity known as ‘The Egg Lady from Sapling Home Farm’ has secured recognition from a top UK businesswoman.

Maxine Wharf, who delivers eggs around Knutsford, Northwich and Altrincham in her branded car, was picked out by Ann Summers chief executive Jacqueline Gold as part of her Women On Wednesday initiative.

Each week, Jacqueline invites women to tweet in their business successes using the hashtag #WOW, picking out the top three and sharing the details with her 30,000 followers.

Maxine said: “I’m absolutely thrilled to have won a #WOW shout-out, it really does make all those early mornings and late nights worth it.

“My hens are pretty much part of the family so I’m incredibly passionate about our eggs and this will hopefully encourage more people in the area to shop local and enjoy the freshest of eggs from an ethical source.”

Sapling Home Farm has been supplying freshly-laid eggs to pubs and restaurants for almost six years, but The Egg Lady business which delivers to homes across Cheshire began in January 2017.

Maxine’s cottage industry has gone from strength to strength as she juggles a growing business with looking after her three young children, aged eight, six and four years old.
