TATTON MP Esther McVey has been named as the Government's deputy chief whip.
Her appointment follows the resignation of Michael Fallon, defence secretary, last night (November 1).
Ms McVey walked into 10 Downing Street this morning ahead of her appointment, and left without speaking to reporters.
The former Wirral West MP, who replaced George Osborne in June's General Election, served as a work and pensions minister from 2012 to 2015.
Former chief whip Gavin Williamson has been appointed as defence secretary, while Julian Smith has been promoted from Ms McVey's new role.
