A CHARITY group supporting Knutsford’s community hospital is preparing fresh fundraisers as it bids to continue an interior revamp.

The Knutsford League of Hospital Friends recently ordered new chairs worth more than £4,000 for the Bexton Road hospital, which will see the current seats – installed second hand from Macclesfield 15 years ago – replaced.

With the replacement imminent, the group is now looking to bring the floor up to scratch by replacing the carpet with new and more hygienic flooring.

Chairman Eileen Podmore said: “The Knutsford League of Hospital Friends has recently agreed to fund new chairs for the reception area at the Knutsford and District Community Hospital at a cost of just over £4,000, as the chairs there at present were the old ones from Macclesfield when theirs were replaced.

“As in your own homes when new furniture is introduced, the flooring appears even more in need of replacement, and so it is at the hospital.

“We are therefore trying to raise funds for new flooring also to this area, to make the whole experience of hospital visits more pleasant. The cost involved would be in excess of £3,000, so we are asking organisations from the town if they will join with us to help fund this in any way that they feel appropriate.

“We will also be selling Christmas cards later in the year at a cost of £2.75 for a packet of 10, with £1.25 from each packet being profit for the hospital and community-based medical projects, and holding a cake stall in the hospital from 9.30am on Tuesday, October 3.”

The sale will take place throughout the morning, with cakes donated by the three WIs of Knutsford – Boothsmere, Crosstown and Cranford. Find contact details for the League of Friends at knutsfordtowncouncil.gov.uk
