ONE of KNUTSFORD’s favourite family events returns to town in a month’s time, with spooky fun for all.

Residents and visitors can look forward to an evening of spooky fun at annual Pumpkin Path event, launched in 2013 and quickly establishing itself as a favourite for families and business-owners alike.

Knutsford Town Council will take the lead on the Halloween festivities, held on Tuesday, October 31 between 4pm and 8pm.

Julia Chard, owner of Mr Simms and a key driving force behind the event’s beginnings and continued growth, said: “It’s been fantastic being involved in organising the Pumpkin Path over the last four years and watching it grow into one of Knutsford’s biggest community events.

“Now is the time to hand over the organising the town council, allowing me to concentrate on being a sweetie lady.

“We will of course be a sponsor and taking part on the night and look forward to seeing all the scary little monsters, for what promises to be the biggest and spookiest Pumpkin Path yet.”

Knutsford Town Council last month welcomed a new town centre manager, Sandra Curties, whose role includes event management as well as liaising between businesses and the council.

As in previous years, the event will see youngsters and their parents scouring King Street’s shops and restaurants to find the 11 carved pumpkins which spell out ‘PUMPKIN PATH’, before submitting entries to Knutsford Heritage Centre’s spooky post box.

Enthusiastic traders will join in the fun to make Knutsford a truly special and spooky place to visit.

New this year will be the inclusion of town council-maintained Wallwood at the Tatton Street end of King Street, specially adorned in Halloween decor including witches, wizards, lighting and music with the help of events company Events2Scare.

There will also be the chance to take a selfie with one of the characters to enter a #pumpkinpath Twitter competition.

The town will be decked out in spooky fashion, with a best-dressed window competition run through the town council’s Facebook page.

Sandra said “We are enjoying organising this year’s event with Mr Simms and Knutsford’s business community. It is lovely to see the town come together and enjoy this date on the calendar in such a family-friendly way.”

Minshull Street will be closed during the event, as will King Street from Church Hill to Drury Lane. There will also be parking bay suspension on King Street between Tatton Street and Drury Lane, enabling two-way traffic to maintain residents’ access.
