THERE are many good things Wirral Council does on our behalf. I’d like to praise two concerning the highways department.

Firstly, the extensive road re-surfacing efficiently carried out during the least busy period, the school summer holidays; secondly, for blocking off the New Brighton meadows with boulders to prohibit vehicles using them as a free campsite.

I’d like the council to do one more good thing for roads.

But as expressed by your correspondent Michael Jones, it is time to send a message to the owners of the “30-plus motor homes and caravans parked nearly every day” that they cannot spoil our beautiful New Brighton promenade by free camping.

Personally I’d prefer them to be banned altogether and revenue to be collected in fines.
