KNUTSFORD’S seconds ended the campaign with a narrow five-run reverse away to Haslington thirds in the Cheshire League last Saturday.
Chasing 179 to win, their hopes were kept alive by a 67-run partnership for the sixth wicket between Mohammad Iqbal (62) and Jiten Parmar (34).
However the remaining four wickets fell for just 24 as Joseph Mosley (5-43) and Joe Cork (4-47) dismissed the tail-enders.
Earlier, opener Jason Jinks (122) had dominated the home team’s innings as they closed on 178 all out.
Parmar (4-44) and Abin Abraham (2-24) were the pick of the bowlers as Knutsford finish seventh in Division C South and Central.
A waterlogged pitch prevented any play at Mereheath Lane, where Knutsford’s first team had been due to host relegated Glazebury in a Division Four fixture.
It means Adeel Bhatti’s men classify fifth overall after winning eight of their 18 matches.
