AN art exhibition has drawn large crowds and inspired first time exhibitors, despite being forced inside by poor weather.

Knutsford artist Emma Williams’ Art on The Moor project, which took place last weekend as part of Heritage Open Days, relocated to The Angel in King Street at the last minute – a move that didn’t deter visitors.

Emma said: “It was only the night before I went to the Angel and they said yes straight away. They couldn’t have been more helpful.

“It was busy all day, and I was pleasantly surprised. As we were setting up, people came in and it stayed that way all day.

“We managed to squeeze most of the people in, and quite a few had never exhibited before. That was the whole point of the event, to encourage people who are working to put their work out there.”

The event was also supported by live music from the band Pastry Shoes.

With The Moor unavailable for the inaugural event, plans to stage an open air event in the future remain.

“People like the idea of the open air pop-up on The Moor, and have said they would get on board with anything I can put on in the future,” Emma said.

“Anything that gives Knutsford a profile and a platform for art is a good thing. It’s nice to get it off the ground and give recognition to those people working away. It’s really positive.”
