A CONSULTATION is being held on dog fouling.

Cheshire East Council is looking for views of borough residents following the proposed introduction of a public space protection order to help tackle the problem.

The PSPO would ban dog fouling in all public places and allow authorised officers to tell a dog owner to put their canine on a lead if necessary.

A CEC spokesperson said: “We are considering the introduction of a PSPO to enable us to more effectively tackle dog fouling and introduce certain dog control requirements.

“We recognise that most dog owners are responsible and would like to thank them for their continued support in helping to keep our public areas clean.

“The questionnaire contains statements which reflect the wording of the PSPO and would like your view as to whether they are clear and reasonable and to tell us how strongly you agree or disagree.”

The aim of the PSPO is to replace and extend existing dog control and bylaws.

The closing date for the consultation is 12pm on October 10.

Any issues or queries should be directed to the Anti-Social Behaviour Team on 0300 123 50 30.
