A KNUTSFORD figure skater has been shortlisted for a borough-wide sporting achievement award.

Amy Morris is among five names shortlisted for the Young Sports Achiever of the Year category in the Everybody Awards, with a ceremony set to take place on October 6.

The awards will be presented by Jon Winkle, with former Olympic Silver and double Commonwealth gold medal competitive swimmer Sharron Davies MBE as keynote speaker.

Redvers Oakley of Holmes Chapel Leisure Centre and Alison Wright of Holmes Chapel Community Centre are in the running for the Everybody Customer Hero award.

Jon said: “The judges have had a really tough job selecting the winners from this year’s record number of nominees.

“We’re all looking forward to hearing their amazing stories on the night and celebrating the great sporting talent and dedication here in east Cheshire.”

Everybody Leisure received more than 140 nominations across 37 different sports for the 2017 awards.

Nine awards will be presented on the night. at Wrenbury Hall in Nantwich.

Volunteers, initiatives, clubs, and coaches will be celebrated alongside the borough’s high achievers.
