A YOUNG author has taken the step of self-publishing her latest novel, with the paperback available across the globe.

Amy Ware, 20, who is a teacher at Holmes Chapel Comprehensive School, has made her rom-com ‘I Wrote a Book About You’ available to buy on Amazon.

Having first taken on the industry aged just 14, Amy says her latest work – two years in the making – has been a therapeutic process.

She said: “It has been an emotional rollercoaster to say the least.

“Writing for me is an avenue where I can let out all of that heartbreak and turn it into something laughable and hopefully relatable.

“Let’s face it, love is not easy. I seem to have had my fair share of ‘those dates’ and IWABAY is a journey where we can all reflect on those frogs we’ve kissed and perhaps look towards a future with a prince.”

The novel – set in a Spanish summer – follows 26-year-old Posy, who has recently divorced her cheating childhood sweetheart husband Hamilton.

After falling in love with Freddie in Barcelona, she is forced to pack up and head home to Kent following the near-death of a family member.

From there, she faces the tough decision of whether to stay at home amid the unhappiness of her past or risk it all to find the man of her dreams.

Amy has drummed up interest in the book through social media, and turned down a publishing offer to ensure her work would be available in paperback as well as e-book format.

With friends and colleagues having helped edit the book, some have described it as ‘the new Bridget Jones’.

She said: “I have a fan club on Facebook for this novel, and the total of members has just tipped over 1,000.

“I have been blown away by the response.

“I lost my dad to a rare form of brain cancer when I was 15, and one of his wishes to me was to ‘do what makes you happy’.

“For me, that’s teaching and writing. So, in a way, this book is dedicated to him entirely.”
