TWO people have been taken to Royal Stoke Hospital after being hit by a train in Holmes Chapel.

Police were called to Holmes Chapel railway station shortly before 12.30pm today following reports that two people had been struck by a train, which was en-route to London.

Emergency services were on the scene.

A spokesman for the British Transport Police said: “We were called at 12.27pm today to Holmes Chapel Railway Station following reports that two people had been struck by a train.

“Officers are currently on the scene alongside paramedics.

“Two people are being taken to hospital for treatment to serious injuries.”

North West Ambulance Service confirmed that the two people have been taken to the Royal Stoke Hospital.

The line was closed following the incident.
