A NEW housing 93 homes development is underway in Holmes Chapel.

The £25.5m development by Russell Homes at Saltersford Gardens off Macclesfield Road, will include a mix of two bedroom to five bedroom properties, a children’s play area, with green open space on the nine acre site.

Groundworks were started at the beginning of 2017 to build a new roundabout installed at Macclesfield Road at its junction with Manor Avenue. To further improve road safety, a toucan crossing will be placed at the eastern approach as well as a new footpath to the village.

As construction of the new houses gets underway, the first artists’ impressions have also been unveiled of the different house types, along with typical street scenes showing how the overall development will eventually look, demonstrating the variety of styles of materials being used.

According to the developer, more than 400 people have already registered their interest in the development.

Gill Richardson, Russell Homes sales manager said: “We have been very conscious that this development should deliver a mix of housing which would cater to the demands of different people within the community.

“The inclusion of two-bedroom properties aims to meet the needs of the younger first time buyers and perhaps older downsizers, while the larger homes will provide options for families who need to move up and want to stay in, or come to, this very desirable part of Cheshire.

She added: “Located on the edge of Holmes Chapel, the development is within easy reach of all local amenities, schools, shops, and restaurants.

“This area is increasingly popular and attracts people from across the region, thanks mainly to the semi-rural location, charming local village, excellent links to the nearby M6 and a train station offering a 40-minute commute to Manchester city centre.”
