POLICE are investigating after a woman was knocked down by a car in King Street this afternoon.

Officers were called out by paramedics at 2.15pm today, August 16, after a blue Peugeot 208 hit a pedestrian.

The pedestrian, who has been reported as being 27 years old, was taken to Wythenshawe Hospital by air ambulance. Her injuries are not believed to be life threatening.

A spokesman at Cheshire Police told the Guardian: "At 2.15pm there was a collision between a female pedestrian and a blue Peugeot 208.

"Officers attended along with an ambulance and the air ambulance.

"The vehicle has been collected."

Eyewitnesses have told the Guardian that the car park in King Street was closed following the incident.
