THE operators of a pub in Goostrey will hand back ownership when their lease runs out next month.

Tarporley-based 16 Hospitality has been unable to renew its lease of The Crown Inn, owned by Marston's Brewery, says it will hand back the keys on September 8.

A spokesman for 16 Hospitality said: "It is with great sadness that we are announcing the end of our lease agreement at The Crown Inn, in Main Road.

"We entered into negotiations with the owners of the premise, but unfortunately, we weren’t able to reach an agreement that would be suitable for both parties and have had to make the business decision not to renew our lease.

"We understand the pub will continue to trade after we have left on 8th September.

"Whilst some of our hard-working team are likely to continue to work at The Crown we are also discussing opportunities for some to continue their growth within 16 Hospitality as the wider business develops."

The group also runs The Swan in Tarporley, The Partridge in Stretton, The Oyster Catcher, and a further two locations in Anglesey.

The Guardian has approached Marston's for comment.
