FIREFIGHTERS needed the aid of breathing apparatus to tackle a van fire on the M6 last night.
Crews from Knutsford, Lymm and Stockton Heath were called at 9.38pm yesterday, Thursday, and attended the incident at the northbound sliproad to the service station, just shy of junction 19.
Two hose reel jets were used by firefighters, one wearing breathing apparatus, to put out the fire in the van, which was described as 'well alight'.
A Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said: "Specialist cutting equipment was used so the crew could get access to the interior of the van.
"They were at the scene for just under an hour."
