RESIDENTS have chosen their favourite town centre floral display following a week of blooming beauty.

Knutsfordians were spoiled for choice with around 40 businesses taking part in the annual tradition of adorning shopfronts with eye-catching displays.

This year’s new town council competition saw Travelbag in Princess Street win first place in the public vote, with Diamond Nails in second place and Italian restaurant Gusto taking third.

Voting was conducted through Facebook, Twitter and by contacting the town council.

Town clerk Adam Keppel-Garner said: “The incredible efforts of our businesses over the past few years added something extra special to the town for when RHS visits. They put on some fantastic displays.”

Gill Poole, assistant manager at Travelbag, which won with a jungle-themed display, said: “We are very happy with the result. Knutsford always has a good turnout for these events.”

Tom Nguyen, who owns runner-up business Diamond Nails with his wife Phoebe Tran, said: “Our theme up of beautiful, vibrant colours, reflects not only what we are doing in store but also our energy in the salon.

“The town looked beautiful and inspiring – we can’t wait for next year.”

Fernando Poveda, general manager at Gusto, which finished third, said: “It’s my first year in Knutsford, and it’s great to see the effort everyone put in. We have always contributed to the local community, and we will be trying even harder next year.”
