PLANS to build a sand quarry in Cranage are back on the table.

Sibleco has today, Tuesday, July 18, submitted planning applications to Cheshire East and Cheshire West and Chester Councils to create the site after previously withdrawing it last month.

The firm told the Guardian it would be seeking permission for a sand extraction site that straddles the border of both authorities and which would sit within the parishes of Cranage and Allostock.

The scheme is substantially the same as the one that was submitted in September 2016 but later withdrawn - in June this year - after Cheshire West and Chester planning authority decided it would be determining the application as well as Cheshire East.

Mike Hurley, Sibelco's head of sustainability, said: "The scheme we are proposing in these fresh applications is essentially the same as submitted previously but revised to reflect comments we have received.

"The full details will be in the public domain and we encourage people to make their observations.

"We have listened carefully to all contributions to date and look forward to determinations by members of both authorities in due course."
