A PUB has held a successful fundraiser, which will help to send children from Longridge and Shaw Heath on exciting activity-filled trips this summer.

The Falcon Bearer played host for the family fun day on Saturday, July 15, which brought in around £600 on the day and more through an ongoing raffle.

Funds will help to send children to places such as the Museum of Science and Industry in Castlefield, Tatton Park, and Pili Palas Nature World on Anglesey, famous for the butterflies after which the attraction is named.

Rebecca O’Rourke, who works at the pub, said the trips would take place throughout August, and that some money would go to the Children’s Adventure Farm Trust – the Falcon Bearer’s chosen charity for the year.

Allan Taylor, pub landlord, said: “It was a huge success that wouldn’t have been possible without all the help and support from everyone.

“Special thanks go to all the staff and volunteers from The Welcome, Wendy and Lee Marney, Lisa Howard, Mandy Bradbury, Tony Lamb, Victor Mullins, Dave Burgess, Tuesday, Julie King, Sandra Coad and Zike and Duncan from the band Slug. Also a huge thank you to everyone that donated prizes for the raffle and tombola.”

Allan also extended special thanks to the Knutsford Lions and Cllr Andrew Malloy for generous donations.
