A THIRD party contractor has damaged a United Utilities water pipe supplying Knutsford, leaving some residents with no water.
The incident was reported to the company around 2.15pm this afternoon, Friday, and engineers are currently on site in Rostherne Lane.
While no timescale could be put on fixing the pipe, work is underway to reinstate water supplies.
A United Utilities spokesman said: “A third party contractor has damaged a 400ml water main.
“It is not causing any flooding as it seems to be contained in a hole, but it has resulted in 12 people contacting us to say they have no water.
“We have four tankers in Knutsford to keep that underground service topped up.
“In the meantime we will isolate the damaged pipe and start to repair it.”
Engineers have been on site since before 5pm.
