A MAN has been arrested in relation to a spate of racist graffiti attacks in Toft.

Police officers had earlier appealed for information after graffiti was spotted on A50 road signs near Knutsford.

Following a vehicle stop check on the A50 Toft Road near Knutsford yesterday, Thursday, a 52-year-old man from the Atherton area was arrested on suspicion of inciting racial hatred.

He is currently being held in police custody, and is assisting officers with their enquiries.

"I hope that this arrest will go some way to reassuring local residents that committed to doing all we can to stamp out hate crime in Cheshire.”
