A WOMENSWEAR business has been nominated for two industry awards, just a year after starting up and eight months after opening a second store in Knutsford.

The Edit, which first sprung up in Hale last May and then Canute Place at the end of October, is up for best new business and best store design at the Drapers Independents Awards 2017.

The ceremony takes place in London in September, and Tim Rawson, who runs The Edit with his wife Penny, says the store has exceeded expectations.

“It’s very rare to be nominated for two awards, and in the first year it’s unheard of,” he said.

“It is the industry award to win. You only get to go for the new business one for a year or two, and then the fact that we have been nominated for store layout against new and established businesses has surprised us most.”

Tim also said that, while another store runs in Hale and further outlets are planned, Knutsford offers a unique environment.

He said: “We have had a fantastic reception. We are trading really well, and are looking at opening a third site in Didsbury, but we see ourselves having a good future in Knutsford.

“It’s a big draw for Knutsford that there is always something going on, be it Tatton Park, the Makers Market or the music festival. It brings people in and it’s a bit of a destination."
