CYCLISTS will take to the streets of Holmes Chapel next weekend in support of children in the area who have been affected by the Manchester bombing.

A team will cycle 36 miles around Middlewich and Holmes Chapel on July 9, in aid of 23 children who attended the Ariana Grande concert at the Manchester Arena on May 22.

Gail Armstrong has formed a charity committee, with cyclists urged to sign up for a £5 registration fee.

The money will be split between students from Middlewich High School, Holmes Chapel Comprehensive School, and Sandbach Girls School.

Gail said: “I work in Manchester and after hearing from people caught up in the travesty I felt compelled to do something about it.

“It all just felt a little too close to home and this is now our way of giving back to the children in the community who will be traumatised by the events of that night.

“The route is quite flat so it’s open to people who don’t have much experience of cycling, and a few weeks is more than enough time to incorporate a bit of training."

It is hoped that around 100 people will take part. To register, or for more information, call Gail on 07527490454.
