EXPERTS from the world’s largest gardening charity will be sharing their knowledge with Cheshire’s gardeners this month.

For the first time, six horticultural talents from the Royal Horticultural Society will be attending the Arley Garden Festival, which is on June 24 and 25.

Among the knowledgeable names are Christine Ffoulkes Jones of the RHS’ Herbaceous Committee and Marcus Chilton Jones, curator at RHS Bridgewater.

“The garden festival remains a family event, but this is a fantastic opportunity for local gardeners to tap into some extraordinary talent and expertise,” said Event Manager Helen Begent.

Also attending is Christine Skelmersdale who sits on the RHS Bulb Committee and Neil Porteous head gardener at Mount Stewart.

Lynne Dibley and Don Billington, of the RHS Tender Plant Committee, complete the lineup of specialist speakers.

Arley Hall’s garden festival is now in its 23rd year and once again will feature a magnificent floral marquee, specialist nurseries along with traders selling horticultural accessories.

There will be gardeners’ Question Time and a host of local schools will have created their own flowerbeds, which are always a quirky highlight of the event. Visitors will also enjoy food, craft and countryside stalls.

“We feel the festival is well established in the calendar for garden enthusiasts as well as those visitors who just want a quintessential, English day out,” said Helen.

“We hope to see as many people as possible this year and that people take the chance to have a wander around our award-winning gardens as well as the showground itself.”

Entry to Arley’s hall and gardens is included in the ticket price. Dogs are welcome on a lead. The show is open from 10am to 5pm both days.

Book tickets online before June 18 for a discount, adults are £11.50, seniors £10.50.

On the gate adult tickets will be £16.50 and seniors £14.50. Children under 16 get in free. Booked tickets can be used on either day.
