A BRILLIANT century by Rob Jones, his second of the season, has kept Toft at the Cheshire County League summit.

He needed only 57 balls to reach 110, helping the Knutsford outfit to reach a victory target of 240 in a high-scoring Premier Division encounter with Bramhall on Saturday.

The Lancashire star’s innings included 15 fours and three maximums, while Henry Hughes (44 off 40 balls) provided support in a third-wicket partnership worth 93 runs.

Rob Sehmi had scored 34 at the top of the order, while James Drummond (27) continued the visitors’ momentum.

They made sure of maximum points in the 40th over when they completed a five-wicket success.

Another Red Rose star, Danny Lamb, had run up a sparkling 130 for the home team before tea.

His knock contained 13 fours and four maximums before he was caught by Jones off the bowling of Jimmy Lomas (3-55).

Bramhall reached 239 of 55 overs, with James Drummond (3-53) and Jones (2-18) weighing in too.

Alderley Edge stay second in the table after becoming the latest team to dismantle Bowdon’s batting, while Timperley suffered a first league defeat when they lost to Chester Boughton Hall.

Toft’s hopes of reaching the Joseph Holt Brewery T20’s knockout stage appear to be over following an eight-wicket defeat at home to Bollington on Tuesday.

The hosts were dismissed for 120 at Booth’s Park, where Henry Hughes (22 off 15 balls) was run out while his innings was gathering momentum.

James Scott (18) was their next highest scorer, while Joe Roddis took 4-18.

Bolly eased to victory at 121-2 thanks in large part to a 75-run partnership for the second wicket between Jack Ward (43) and captain Richard Hough (27).
