FREYA Lewis has been transferred from intensive care to a high dependency unit as her recover from last Monday’s terror attack continues.

The 14-year-old Holmes Chapel Comprehensive School student attended the Ariana Grande concert at Manchester Arena with her friend Nell Jones, who died following the bombing.

In a blog post on her school’s website, her family described the move as ‘a massive positive step towards her recovery’.

They said: “She has been comfortable all day, although she has mainly been asleep. When she does come around however, she is in good spirits.

“We've had a few smiles too, each one of which is heart melting.

“We continue to be stunned by the standard of the care here. This is a truly wonderful place.”

Freya is being treated at Manchester Children’s Hospital, where she underwent a third round of surgery on Saturday afternoon, before returning ‘unventilated and breathing on her own for the first time’.

After her surgery, she received a surprise phone call from Holmes Chapel’s former One Direction star Harry Styles.

Her family added: “The phone rang, and it was Harry Styles. Freya woke up, Harry said he loved her, she said she loved him, then Dad said he loved him.

“She understands, with absolute clarity, what happened on Monday night and what injuries she has sustained.

“Freya's response to all of this information has been incredible, beyond any words. Her strength is phenomenal and inspiring.”
