THE Lord Eldon pub is joining the fundraising appeal in the wake of the Manchester attack, by organising a charity auction for next weekend.

The pub is now looking for prizes to be sold next Sunday, June 4, with donations so far including meals, overnight stays and even a holiday in Dubai.

Donations have come from fellow Knutsford businesses, pubs and restaurants.

A professional auctioneer will oversee proceedings from 3pm, with live music also included in the afternoon’s events.

Steve Elstone said: “Watching the news, it was such a shock and then we found out that this poor girl from Goostrey had died.

“It’s very close to home, and the support from the people of Manchester has been amazing. Being near the city, it’s nice to be able to do something.

“I put the idea to the landlord Gaynor and she immediately said ‘let’s do it’.”

The pub and its customers have also already raised more than £250 in cash.

Monday night’s suicide bomb attack at the Manchester Arena killed 22 people, including Holmes Chapel Comprehensive School student Nell Jones, 14.

To donate prizes for the auction – from which all proceeds will go towards those affected by the attack – call Steve on 07415202048, or the Lord Eldon on 01565 652261.

The Guardian, along with the Lord Eldon, is supporting the Manchester Evening News fundraiser, which has already passed £1 million.
