KNUTSFORD Colour Run returns for its second year on Sunday, with hundreds set to turn out for Knutsford Sports Club fundraiser.

The 4km funrun will start at the club in Mereheath Lane, going around the outskirts of the cricket pitch then to Knutsford Football Club and back round to finish at the sports club in a 1km loop.

Last year saw more than 500 runners and walkers take on the course while being doused in easy-wash powder paint, with this year's event set to spill into two races at 2pm and 3pm.

Money raised will support the clubs, with last year's event helping to fund the tennis club's project to rebuild its courts.

Where do I need to be and when do I need to be there?

The first race starts at 2pm, with another set for 3pm.

Runners and walkers should get to Knutsford Sports Club, in Mereheath Lane, around 45 minutes before the race starts to complete registration.

Participants will also receive a pair of colourful sunglasses and powdered paints before taking on the course.

Parking will not be available at the club, although the football and bowling clubs will be charging for limited parking to raise their own funds.

What is the paint made of and will it ruin my clothes?

The colourful powder paint used is corn starch-based, and is food and cosmetic grade tested ensuring it's safe for runners and their clothes.

Most of the paint will come off with a quick shake while still dry, and soap and water will take care of any residual paint. It also washed out of the grass in the rain.

For the best and most colourful results, wear a white top!

In terms of footwear, the ground is uneven in places so wear comfortable footwear.

What's it all about?

Colour runs have become increasingly popular over the past few years, being a fun event for people of all ages and abilities.

The Knutsford Colour Run will help out the tennis club, which is undertaking a project to rebuild the courts - a project started in 2014.

Other sections at Knutsford Sports Club will be raising funds on the day to help their own clubs.

The colour run is also supporting Knutsford’s Scout and Guide groups.

How can I get involved?

Registration costs £15 for adults, £10 for children under 16 and £42 for a family of two adults and two children.
