RUNNERS, walkers and those anywhere in-between are being urged to sign up for the Knutsford Colour Run with just over a fortnight until the event.

The sponsored fun run returns following last year’s success, taking place on Sunday, May 14 and expected to bring in hundreds.

The 1km loop course around the perimeter of Knutsford Sports Club in Mereheath Lane sees participants of all ages and abilities doused in biodegradable powder paint, meaning all cross the line awash with colour from head to toe.

The money raised by sponsors and participants will help the sports club give its junior tennis courts a much-need makeover, as well as helping the town’s Scouts and Guides groups.

Moya Meredith, Knutsford Tennis Club secretary, said: “It’s a great, fun event for the whole family, and kids just seem to love throwing paint at their parents.

“Then you also have the competitiveness between friendship groups and sports clubs which take part.

“It’s surprisingly liberating to throw paint around. Everyone had so much fun last year and as soon as it was finished people were asking when the next one would be.”

All sponsors who took part last year have signed up once again, with opticians Clare and Illingworth the main sponsor in conjunction with Nikon lenses.

Businesses including Sheldon’s Dairies, Anytime Fitness, Redwood Hire, Toni & Guy and Stirling Lloyd are also on board.

Registration costs £15 for adults, £10 for children under 16, and £42 for a family of two adults and two children. Anyone upwards of age four can take part, with last year’s oldest entrant aged 82.

Anyone registered by Tuesday, May 2 will receive a free goody bag and be entered into a race time slot for the afternoon of May 14.
