FAMILIES flocked to the centre of town on Saturday, as retailers put on the annual Bunny Hop event.

The Easter event, where children search for bunnies across town and write down their details, is now in its fourth year having been started up following the success of the Pumpkin Path.

Saturday saw children putting postcards - filled out with the names of all the bunnies on show around town - in a specially designed postbox at the Heritage Centre between 10am and 4pm.

Three lucky winners were then drawn out from the successful entries to win special prizes. Five-year-old Nieve Smith won a Mr Simms voucher, Rosie and Heidi Quicke, aged five and three, won a prize from Hal Whittakers Toy Shop, and Oliver and Max Valentine, six and seven, won a family meal at Gusto in Knutsford.

As well as the treasure hunt-style event, families and shoppers were treated to special offers, deals and giveaways by Bunny Hop-friendly retailers throughout the town centre and inside the market hall.

Julia Chard at Mr Simms Olde Sweet Shoppe in King Street, who organised the event, said: “It went really well.

“We had hundreds of families in town and nearly 400 entries. This is the fourth year we have done it, and it’s the most businesses we have had take part with 30 retailers, which is fantastic.

“People were coming to visit from other towns and areas, and it was lovely to see some new faces. It was great to see so many little ones running around and enjoying themselves. We all enjoyed that special Knutsford community spirit throughout the day.”
