TOURISTS are set to flock to a stately home in Cheshire to tread in the footsteps of some of the world’s best-known actors.

Arley Hall has been included on a list of location stops for a Peaky Blinders’ coach tour after the series continued to win fans around the world.

Blue Badge Guide Julie Kershaw will be helping fans trace the ascent of Thomas Shelby from the back streets of Birmingham to the grandeur of Arley Hall.

Shelagh Bebington, Arley’s commercial manager, said many fans had already visited the hall and its gardens to see where scenes starring Cillian Murphy, Tom Hardy and Helen McGrory were filmed.

“People can obviously visit us any time to see where the scenes were shot, but from our perspective the coach tours are obviously great news in terms of attracting more visitors,” she said.

“People have visited because they’ve watched the programme and want to get a sense of the atmosphere created by the hall for the Peaky Blinders crew.”

The BBC moved the Shelbys into Arley Hall for several weeks in November, 2015. The series aired last year and continues to grow in popularity.

Cillian Murphy, who plays Thomas Shelby, made Arley his home after ‘going up in the world’ and held his wedding reception in the hall.

Interiors were repainted a more masculine colour to suit his character and a mixture of Arley’s furniture and new props were brought in to create the perfect Shelby home.

Now Julie, a member of the Institute of Tourist Guides, hopes to offer an insight into those times to visiting fans.

“There are fans all over the world and they are starting to find their way to Cheshire and Liverpool in an attempt to find some of the filming locations,” she said.

“Fans are guaranteed not only a professional, qualified guide but also someone who shares their passion and has done hundreds of hours of research.”

The hall at Arley is open on Sundays between noon and 3pm until March 1. After that it will be open Tuesdays, Sundays and Bank Holidays from noon until 5pm.

It’s gardens, Grove and Woodland Walk are open all year.

The guided tours are aimed at groups, but will also be arranged for individuals to book if there is demand. Email Julie Kershaw peakylocationstours@yahoo.com or call 07944 617477.
