A FORMER hotelier who switched careers is hoping to go international after reaching dizzy heights in 2016.

Sue Williamson, from Hartford, launched her Simply Ceremonies in 2015 after retraining with the Fellowship of Independent Celebrants.

Celebrants are professional officiants who perform ceremonies, such as weddings, funerals, baby-namings and vow renewals.

They also provide guidance in the creation of the ceremonies, ensuring that they reflect the beliefs, dreams and values of their clients.

Sue, who lived in Mobberly for many years, said: “It’s been good fun. I love doing what I’m doing. People are starting to become aware of my name now, which is nice.

“I’d like to now go international, to get all over the place to do weddings. That would be lovely if the business could grow to that point.”

In May Sue received her biggest job to date after she was asked to work on a ceremony for a celebrity couple due to get married at Delamere Manor in August.

She said: “It was a bit of a shock to receive the call from the wedding planner asking if I could perform a ceremony for August 20.

“I thought they meant the following year, but it was August 2016. It’s highly unusual, weddings are usually planned so far in advance.”

Initially Sue didn’t know who the couple were until she visited them in their home.

It turned out to be Samia Ghadie of Coronation Street fame, and Sylvain Longchambon, a French ice dancer.

She had to sign a none-disclosure agreement preventing her from sharing any details about the wedding, including who was to be wed, until OK! Magazine published the coverage from the day.

She said the wedding was in a ‘different league’.

Sue said: “It was a very surreal experience. Half the cast of Coronation Street there. But everyone was lovely, very down to earth, no airs or graces whatsoever.

“It was absolutely delightful. And of course Delamere Manor is a beautiful venue.”

“I stayed behind for some bubbly with Bill Roach, Helen Worth and Shane Ward. It was so lovely.”
